Bulldozer Controversy: Hearing on bulldozer action postponed till June 29
The petition has sought directions to the authorities of Uttar Pradesh that no further demolition of properties in the state should be carried out without following due process.

The hearing on the petition filed in the Supreme Court regarding the operation of bulldozers on disputed properties in Uttar Pradesh has been postponed to June 29. Actually, Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has challenged the recent bulldozer action in UP in the Supreme Court.
At the same time, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind has sought time from the court to respond to the affidavit of the state government. Earlier, it was argued on behalf of the state government that the bulldozer action was not related to the riots. The orders regarding the constructions that have been demolished had been issued months ago. The demolition work has been done following the procedure.
The Uttar Pradesh government had told the Supreme Court that there was no merit in the petition of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, it should be dismissed. Citing the example of demolition of Javed Mohammad's house in Prayagraj, holding the petitioner guilty of selectively taking up the matter, the UP government said that the process of demolition of this illegal construction was started long before the incidents of riots.
The Uttar Pradesh government, in its affidavit, said that as far as action against the accused of riots is concerned, the state government is taking strict action against them according to a completely different law. Jamiat has leveled baseless allegations against the state machinery and its officials. His allegations are based on some media reports. The organization is seeking relief which has no legal or factual basis.
