Broke Haters Busy Hating While Deepika Padukone Adds Another Feather To Her Cap
As Besharam Rang, the song in her upcoming movie Pathan, which features Shah Rukh Khan's resurgence after four years was released, narrow-minded, moral-policing unemployed selves started an appeal for banishing the movie.
Haters Gonna Hate is a well-known lingo in the Social Media world where Gen-Z is swift in showing Middle Fingers to anyone imposing their unsolicited opinions on them. Guess who did justice to the phrase incessantly recently — Deepika Padukone.
As Besharam Rang, the song in her upcoming movie Pathan, which features Shah Rukh Khan's resurgence after four years was released, narrow-minded, moral-policing unemployed selves started an appeal for banishing the movie.
Leaving the Political ideology aside, Padukone's bikini was too much for them. After all, when misogynist men and women see other women owning their bodies, and wearing what they wish to, their existence quivers. An independent woman with choices of her own is after all a threat to them and these hate-mongering extremists came with reasons abstruse to comprehend.
Unbothered by the hate, however, Padukone gave the major goal of being an Unbothered self. While misogynist politicians, haters, and broke boycott gangs cry about her bikini and its shade, Padukone launched her new product in the Wellness niche and shared a snippet of her enjoying a chocolate cake, building her empire further.
Meeta Sengupta wrote, "Warned you years ago that the saree colour on Navratri would lead to colour policing. This Deepika thing is a clear next step to colour policing. Soon we will all be in uniform and fighting for the right to colour. Simple rule: The mob is mad, don't join in.
Shilpa Rathnam writes, "Don’t wear hijab, don’t wear swimsuits. Why do men have such a problem with women wearing whatever they want to wear? Deepika is wearing swimsuits on the beach, if she wore a bikini that would also be a problem. As for social media boycotts, even the trolls watched Brahmastra."
Well, it isn't the first time a women's body is a receptacle of other people's opinions, and it might not be the last. Recently, misogynist writer Chetan Bhagat took a dig at Urfi Javed's clothing while dismissing the patriarchal narrative his stories seem to take.
