Breaking: Bilkis Bano Files two petitions in the Supreme Court, Demands to send 11 gangrape convicts back to jail who were released on August 15
As per Live Law, Bilkis Bano approaches the Supreme Court challenging the premature release of the 11 persons who were sentenced to life imprisonment for gang-raping her and murdering her family members during the 2002 Gujarat riots.

Bilkis Bano has reached the Supreme Court against the release of the gangrape convicts. He filed two applications on Wednesday. One of these is against the release of 11 convicts. Second review petition. Bilkis demanded an early hearing on them. All the 11 convicts, in this case, were released on August 15 as part of the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence.
In this case, social workers have filed a petition earlier also. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said that all the petitions filed in this case will be heard soon.
According to reports, Bilkis Bano has filed two petitions in the court. Challenging the release of the 11 convicts in the first petition, they have been demanded to be sent back to jail immediately. At the same time, in the second petition, the Supreme Court has demanded to reconsider the order given in May, in which it was said that the decision on the release of the convicts will be taken by the Gujarat government. Bilkis said that when the trial of the case was going on in Maharashtra, then how can the Gujarat government take a decision?
This is in addition to her written petition challenging the release. On March 3, 2002, riots broke out in Gujarat after the Godhra incident. During the riots, an angry mob barged into the house of Bilkis Bano at Randhikpur village in Limkheda taluka of Dahod district. To escape the rioters, Bilkis hid in a field with her family. Then Bilkis was 21 years old and she was 5 months pregnant. The rioters gang-raped Bilkis, her mother, and three more women.
