Boris Johnson will step down as party leader : British PM will remain till October, decision taken after resignation of 50 ministers-MP

Big changes are taking place in the UK. The British Prime Minister will soon resign as Leader of the Conservative Party in Parliament. However, he will continue to serve as caretaker prime minister until a new leader is elected in October. Johnson will address the nation before resigning. The biggest reason for this resignation is the appointment of Chris Pincher on the post of Deputy Chief Whip on 30 June. Pincher was involved in a sex scandal. It was only after this that the process of resignation from the British cabinet started.

Angered by Pincher's appointment and Johnson's work, 50 ministers and lawmakers have resigned. These people say that the British PM knew everything, yet made an appointment. The mistrust against the government is increasing so much that Michelle Donelan, who was made minister 36 hours ago, also resigned.

According to Conservative Party rules, a second no-confidence motion cannot be brought against him for 12 months after Johnson won the confidence vote last month. Some party MPs have started demanding that this 12-month immunity period should be reduced or ended. One way is for Johnson to announce a fresh election. Chances are slim, as Parliament and Johnson's party are not in favor of the new election.
