The government said on Tuesday that a study by the Indian Council of Medicine and Research (ICMR) has found that the level of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 increases after taking a booster dose of the anti-coronavirus vaccine Covaccine.
Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Bharti Praveen Prawar told the Rajya Sabha that this study was done to find out the effect of booster dose of Covaccine vaccine. He said in a written answer to a question that available international data on booster doses of AstraZeneca and Covishield vaccines show that there is a three to four-fold increase in antibody levels after taking it.
Bharti Pawar said that following the recommendation of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI), vigilance doses of anti-Covid vaccine are being given to health workers, frontline workers and people above 60 years of age from January 10 this year.
