Boney Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor Get Emotional: Late actress Sridevi was recently honoured in Mumbai as a chowk in Lokhandwala was named after her. The ceremony was held on Saturday evening during Dussehra. Boney Kapoor and his younger daughter Khushi Kapoor inaugurated the chowk, Shabana Azmi was also present.

The chowk is near Green Acres Tower where Sridevi lived for many years before she passed away in 2018. In a video from the inauguration, Khushi looks solemn and on the verge of tears. Boney looks deeply moved as he unveils the chowk with Sridevi’s pictures. He touches his wife’s picture as a mark of respect. Shabana is standing beside Khushi throughout the ceremony. Janhvi was not present.

It was on October 12 at 6 pm. Shabana was also present. The chowk is located near Sridevi’s old residence, Green Acres Tower, where she stayed for many years before passing away in 2018. The place is sentimental and Boney and Khushi were overwhelmed with the crowd that gathered at one point. Janhvi didn’t attend the inauguration.

Sridevi’s last appearance was in a cameo in the 2018 film Zero with Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. Her last leading role was in the film Mom (2017) with Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Sridevi passed away in Dubai on February 24, 2018 after accidentally drowning in a bathtub at a hotel where she was attending a family wedding. In an earlier interview with The New Indian, Boney Kapoor had said that Sridevi used to follow very strict salt free diets which would sometimes lead to blackouts.

Reflecting on her sudden death, he stated, “It was not a natural death; it was an accidental death. I had decided not to speak about it because I spoke about it for almost 24 or 48 hours together when I was being investigated and interrogated. In fact, the officers said we had to go through this because there was a lot of pressure from Indian media. And they discovered there was no foul play. I went through all the tests, including lie detector tests and all those things. And then, of course, the report which came clearly stated it was accidental.”
