Singh is the Commander of the Training Command of the Indian Air Force and he himself is also a helicopter pilot.

The reason why Air Marshal Manvendra Singh has been entrusted with the investigation of such a big accident is that he himself is a helicopter pilot and has more than 6 thousand hours of flying experience. During this, Siachen has successfully flown over challenging terrains from North-East India, Uttarakhand and Western Desert to Congo.
