Following the announcement of assembly election results on May 2nd, in which the Trinamool Congress was re-elected for the third time, clashes were observed in many regions of the state.

On Wednesday, the Kolkata Police began virtual interrogating actor-turned-BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty in relation with a complaint alleging that his statements made on March 7thincited post-election violence in West Bengal.
According to a First Information Report (FIR), the speech aided in instigating post-election violence in Bengal following Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress's overwhelming victory on May 2nd.
At 10.20 a.m., officers from the Manicktala police station in north Kolkata began investigating the actor, who is in Pune at the moment.
After joining the BJP on March 7th, the actor allegedly used phrases like "Marboekhane lash porbeshoshane" (Will hit you here and the body will end up in the crematorium) and "Ekchhobolechhobi" (A snakebite will transform you into a picture, meaning will kill you) during a rally here.
Mithun Chakraborty has filed an application with the Calcutta High Court to get the FIR dismissed. Following which, the court then ordered a virtual interrogation of the actor by an investigation officer.

The court set the issue for hearing on June 18th after the petitioner's and prosecution's attorneys asked for it to be heard at a later date on Friday.
