BJP's manifesto promises minimum 10 yrs of jail for ‘love jihad’ in UP

The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced in its manifesto that if it retains power once again in Uttar Pradesh, it will make a stringent law against ‘love Jihad’.
According to the manifesto, the law against ‘love Jihad’ will have provisions for a minimum of ten years in jail and Rs1 lakh as a fine. The existing law on forceful conversion has a provision of jail term from one to five years and a minimum fine of Rs 15,000.
Lok Kapyan Sankalp Patra 2022, as the party names its manifesto, promises to construct a Ramayan University where people will carry out extensive research of the life and work of Lord Rama along with culture and religion.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah who was accompanied by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath released the manifesto and said that the BJP has fulfilled 92 per cent of 212 promises that it has made before the UP Assembly elections in 2017.
Shah said, “We have an elaborate manifesto. The BJP government has ended appeasement, nepotism and corruption from UP politics and laid a strong foundation to make UP safe and developed. We will restore the glory of UP.”
The manifesto also focussed on farmers’ issues such as free electricity supply, funds for bore and tube wells and another price stability fund to ensure a minimum price for potato, tomato and onion etc.
Cane growers have been promised to be paid within 14 days of the procurement of their products. The manifesto also says that it will strengthen procurement of wheat and paddy on Minimum Support Price (MSP).
