BJP should be called Bhoomigat Janavirodhee Party: Former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav

The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav has taken a dig at the political leaders of Bhartiya Janata Party and said that the party should be renamed as Bhoomigat Janavirodhee Party (Underground anti-people party).

According to Yadav, the BJP has started facing a political and social boycott due to its stand on farmers protest and a lot of political leaders have either gone underground or started leaving the party.

It is in that context, Yadav said that the party should now be called, “Bhoomigat Janavirodhee Party (Underground anti-people party).

Yadav said, “Fearing the BJP's cruelty to farmers and public outrage, a period of resignations has come in the BJP as the political as well as the social boycott of the BJP has started. The BJP leaders who shared hatred at the intersections have gone underground.”

“Now the new name of BJP should be 'underground anti-people party',” he added.

Since the protest against the farm laws has started, many BJP leaders have resigned from the party.

Among the recent ones is Haryana BJP leader Rampal Majra who has quit the party over its stand on the new farm laws.

Earlier, Balwan Singh Daulatpuria, who had switched from INLD to BJP ahead of the 2019 Assembly elections in the state, resigned from the party.

Daulatpuria said that the Centre should respect the sentiments of the farmers and withdraw the contentious farm laws.

Another senior politician from Western Uttar Pradesh Avtar Singh Bhadana, who won the Meerapur Assembly constituency, also left the party on the farmer issues.

Many other leaders have also left the party fearing their support base which is mainly farmers.
