Arvind Bellad, the BJP MLA who represents the Hubli-Dharwad constituency in Karnataka has made a shocking remark while talking to the reporters about bringing the body of the Indian student who was killed in Ukraine.
Naveen Shekharappa Gyanagowda, who had gone to Ukraine to do a 6-year MBBS course was killed as the country has engaged in a war against Russia. While he was trying to be evacuated, he got shot in Ukraine. The family members have demanded the government to bring back his body and hand it over to the family for the last rites.
Bellad said that a dead body in a coffin will take more space and in that space, eight to ten people can be evacuated from the aircraft. He said that Ukraine is a war zone and it is very difficult to bring even alive people from there.
While talking about the government’s efforts, Bellad said, "The government is putting in the effort to bring back the mortal remains of Naveen. Ukraine is a war zone and everyone is aware of it. Efforts are being made and if possible, the body will be brought back.”
"While it is very challenging to bring back those who are alive, it has become even more difficult to bring back the dead because a dead body will consume more space on the flight. Instead, eight to 10 persons can be accommodated in place of a dead body, which would consume more space," said the BJP leader.
