BJP MLA Pankaj Singh Elected Unopposed AS Fencing Association Of India President
Rajeev Mehta, Secretary-General Of the Indian Olympic Association, has been elected Secretary of FAI. Mehta was the President of FAI till this election took place. The election of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) will be held soon, so there are talks that, Pankaj after entering the sports administration, may contest for a post in IOA’s election too. Pankaj’s wife Sushma Rana Singh, an International Shooter, is also a Vice President of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI). She is the younger sister of the famous Indian Shooter Jaspal Rana.

New Delhi: Pankaj Singh, BJP MLA from Noida, Uttar Pradesh and son of Union Defence Minister Rajnah Singh, formally took over as the new President of the Fencing Association of India (FAI). Pankaj was elected unopposed in the election for the Executive Board 2021-25 held on Friday during the Special General Body Meeting of the FAI.

Pankaj Singh said, “Thank you to all the members of Fencing Association of India (FAI) and all the State Fencing Associations for electing me unopposed to the position of President of FAI.”
Talking about his future course of action, Pankaj said, “ As President of the association, I will ensure to work relentlessly towards the betterment of this sport and make it more popular in India. The aim will be to attract more talent by making Fencing accessible to the youth as a sport and making it a career choice for future generations of sportspersons.”
Pankaj praised first Olympian Fencer of India Bhawani Devi, “A special congratulations to C A Bhavani Devi who made the nation proud at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Bhavani Devi became the first Indian fencer to ever qualify for the Olympics. Her focus and determination is a living example of success and by achieving this feat she has inspired millions of Indians towards fencing and has become a role model for many aspiring athletes,” he added.
