BJP lost one seat after Hathras incident, RLD candidate defeated former minister
On 14 September 2020, a Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped by some youths in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. The girl was also assaulted. The girl was admitted to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital in critical condition, where she died on September 29, at that time the ruling party was fiercely targeted by political parties, even after that BJP won from that assembly.

In 2007, Ramveer Upadhyay was made the Energy Minister in the BSP government. This time Ramveer Upadhyay was contesting on BJP ticket, but lost the election from Sadabad seat.
There are total three assembly constituencies in Hathras district, in which 78 Hathras Sadar, 79Sadabad and 80 Sikandarau assembly constituencies come, Anjula Singh Mahour from 78 assembly constituency Hathras Sadar won the seat by defeating Sanjeev Kumar of BSP, Brijmohan Rahi of Samajwadi Party at number three.
