BJP accuses Uddhav government of 'appeasement' over Shraddha Walkar's 2020 complaint

The brutal murder of Shraddha Walkar in Delhi, allegedly by her live-in partner Aftab Amin Poonawalla, has triggered allegations in her home state Maharashtra, with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) saying Uddhav Thackeray's The previous government led by "Had action been taken on Shraddha's letter to the police in 2020, Shraddha could have been saved". In a communal allusion to the killing, BJP MLA Ram Kadam said on Thursday, "The previous government was busy in appeasement and extortion of a community for the sake of politics".

BJP's Mumbai chief Ashish Shelar has demanded an inquiry into the matter, specifically whether Shraddha's complaint was "deliberately suppressed coalition targeted the previous government of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which was ruling Maharashtra till June. Ashish Shelar also gave a communal direction to the case saying, "Did the police not act because Shraddha's surname was 'Walker', or because if he is 'Aftab'. It came to light only on Wednesday, and in a letter written to the police on November 23, 2020, Shraddha had said that Aftab Amin Poonawala "threatens to kill, cut into pieces and throw." Aftab allegedly killed Shraddha in exactly the same way, for which he has been arrested this month.
