Biotech Startup Expo: PM Modi said – India is being considered as the land of opportunities in the field of Biotech
PM Modi said that India's bio-economy has grown eight times in the last eight years. From $10 billion to $80 billion, we have reached. Bharat Biotech will soon join the league of top ten nations in the global ecosystem.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the country's first Biotech Startup Expo 2022 at Pragati Maidan in Delhi today. In his address after the inauguration, PM Modi said that the country's first Biotech Startup Expo is a reflection of the comprehensive development of the Biotech sector in the country.
PM Modi said that India is being considered as a land of opportunities in the biotech sector. There are mainly five reasons for this. These include diverse populations, diverse climatic zones, talented human capital pools, efforts towards ease of doing business and demand for bio-products.
In the last 8 years, the number of start-ups in our country has increased from a few hundred to 70,000 in about 60 different industries. Of these, more than 5,000 start-ups are associated with the biotech sector.
Biotech Startup is organized by the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council, Department of Biotechnology. The theme of the expo is 'Biotech Startup Innovation: Towards a self-reliant India'. The two-day event will end on June 10. The expo will serve as a platform to connect entrepreneurs, investors, scientists, researchers, manufacturers and government officials.
