According to the information, this accident happened near Nayagaon Tola in Desari police station area on Hajipur-Mahanar main road. A large number of people had gathered to worship Bhuiyan Baba at the nearby Brahmasthan. At the same time, the high speed uncontrolled truck rammed the crowd and collided with the tree. It is being told that the truck driver was drunk.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also expressed grief over the incident. He said that he is deeply saddened by the incident of a speeding truck crushing many people including children in Desari police station area of Vaishali. There is deep sympathy for the families of the deceased and they will be given an ex-gratia of Rs.5 lakh each for the proper treatment of the injured.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the accident. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) tweeted that "Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the accident in Bihar's Vaishali is very sad. My condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured get well soon. Two from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) An ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh will be given to the next of kin of each of the deceased. Rs 50,000 will be given to the injured."
