Big Disappointment, Indian Squad Of 15 Shooters Will Return Without A medal
Aishwary Tomar and Sanjeev Rajput finish 21stand 32ndin Men’s 3P event on the final day of competitions

New Delhi: China clinched the top spot in the Shooting charts at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with a gold in the very last event, even as the 15-member Indian squad returned without a medal. In India’s final Shooting foray of the quadrennial extravaganza, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Sanjeev Rajput competing in the Men’s 50M Rifle 3 Positions (3P) event, finished 21stand 32ndin qualifying, with scores of 1167 and 1157 respectively.
Monday was the 10thand final day of competitions in the Shooting discipline and China won four out of the 15 golds on offer along with one silver and six bronze medals to come out on top of the standings with a total of 11 medals. The USA won three golds, two silvers and a solitary bronze, while the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) was third with two golds, four silvers and two bronze medals.
China won the final gold medal at the Asaka Shooting range on Monday, with Zhang Changhong winning the Men’s 3P with a world and Olympic record score of 466.0 in the 45-shot final. The ROC’s Sergey Kamenskiy had a repeat of his silver-winning performance in the same event at Rio, finishing with 464.2 while Serbian Milenko Sebic won bronze with 448.2.
Six countries shared one gold medal apiece while a total of 19 countries won medals in the sport at the Games. Among major Shooting powers that failed to win a medal at the Games were Germany, Sweden, Norway and Hungary. Other major powerhouses like Britain, Italy and France won one medal each. San Marino, pulled off the biggest surprise in the Games, winning two medals.
