Before the T20 World Cup, Team India has to play a T20 series against Australia, but before that a star fast bowler of Team India has been ruled out of the series against Australia after being Covid-19 positive. This has dealt a big blow to the Indian team.
With India's short series against Australia ending on September 25, Mohammad Shammi doesn't have enough time to recover and join the team. Therefore, the series will be completely lost. However, he is expected to return for the T20 series against South Africa from September 28 but he will have to rely on his recovery.
Right now he will be in isolation at home for 7 days. Once he has tested negative for two Covid-19 tests, he must pass a mandatory cardiovascular test to be eligible for re-selection. After a 10-month absence, Shami was included in the T20 World Championship squad as a replacement. The 6 T20Is against Australia and South Africa were crucial for him to get back on track.
The team led by Rohit Sharma will leave for Australia on October 6th. But with Mohammed Shami testing positive, his way back will be cut to just 3 games. Shami needs to make the most of all three games if he recovers in time. Otherwise you can say goodbye to your T20 WC ambitions. Shami has not played a T20 match since IPL 2022.
