Big accident averted at Patna airport, bird collided with plane

A major plane crash was averted on Tuesday at Patna's Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport. The Go-Air flight (G8-274) coming from Bengaluru and landing at Patna airport collided with the bird. The slats on the wing of the aircraft were damaged in the accident which took place at 11:35 am. There were 183 passengers on board who narrowly escaped. The aircraft was grounded after hitting the bird. 175 passengers from Patna were to go to Delhi by this aircraft. According to airport officials, it will now be repaired. Then, after the report of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), it will be allowed to go to Delhi.

The plane could not be rectified till late in the evening. As soon as its cancellation was announced, passengers going to Delhi started creating ruckus at the airport. Initially, the amount was deducted on refund of tickets, further infuriating the passengers. Later, on the assurance of the airlines company, the entire money was refunded to the passengers. There was a crowd of passengers at the counter to return the tickets.

Many passengers were given tickets for the night flight, while many booked tickets for Wednesday. According to official sources, when the engineers examined the aircraft before take-off, it was found that the slate one was damaged. First, the passengers were offloaded from the aircraft citing a technical fault. All the passengers were brought back to the security hold area. There was talk of bird hit. About two hours later, the cancellation of the flight was announced. Many of the aircraft were passengers who had connecting flights abroad.
