Bhupendra Patel will take oath as CM on December 12

The results of the Gujarat assembly elections will come on Thursday. The counting of votes has started at 8 am amid tight security arrangements. Voting for 182 seats in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly was held in two phases on December 1 and December 5.

This time CM of the state Bhupendra Patel entered the fray from Ghatlodia seat which gave two Chief Ministers (Bhupendra Patel and Anandiben Patel) to Gujarat. The Congress had given ticket to Rajya Sabha MP Ami Ben Yagnik on this seat dominated by Patidar voters. Vijay Patel was contesting from AAP.

Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja's wife Rivaba is in the fray on a BJP ticket from Jamnagar North. Veteran leader Bipendra Singh Jadeja from Congress and Karsan Karmor of AAP are contesting the elections. The special thing is that Rivaba's sister-in-law Nayaba was campaigning against him. She is the General Secretary of Jamnagar District Congress. Rivaba's father-in-law Anirudh Jadeja was also campaigning in support of the Congress candidate.

Hardik Patel, who left Congress and joined BJP, was the candidate from Viramgam seat. The Congress has been holding this seat for the last two terms. The Congress, which had won the seat in 2002 and 2007, had fielded veteran Lakhabhai Bharwad. AAP had fielded Amar Singh Thakor in the election. The Khambhalia seat is special because AAP's CM candidate Isudan Gadhvi was contesting here. BJP has given ticket to Mulubhai Hardasabhai Bera and Congress to sitting MLA Vikram Madam. In 2017, he had defeated BJP candidate by 11 thousand 46 votes. Owaisi's AIMIM had also fielded its candidate here.

The Khambhalia seat is special because AAP's CM candidate Isudan Gadhvi was contesting here. BJP has given ticket to Mulubhai Hardasabhai Bera and Congress to sitting MLA Vikram Madam. In 2017, he had defeated BJP candidate by 11 thousand 46 votes. Owaisi's AIMIM had also fielded its candidate here. SP candidate Kandhal Jadeja, who won the Kutiyana seat, has always been claiming to do development work in the area fast. Kandhal Jadeja is the son of Santosh Ben. Santosh Ben's name is also popular as Lady Don of Gujarat. BJP gave ticket to Dheliben Bhurabhai Odedra from this constituency.

BJP's Alpesh Thakor managed to win Gandhinagar South. He defeated Dr. Himanshu Patel of INC by about 43000 votes. A total of 11 candidates were in the fray for this seat. BJP fielded Alpesh Khodaji Thakor here. The Congress has given ticket to 54-year-old Dr. Himanshu Patel (Adalaj). The Aam Aadmi Party fielded Devendrabhai (Dolatbhai) Pravinchandra Patel as its candidate.
