Lawyer-activist Sudha Bharadwaj, who was arrested in the Bhima Koregaon case, has been released from jail after three years. The Bombay High Court had on December 1 granted bail to Sudha Bhardwaj.
The National Investigating Agency (NIA) had filed a petition in the Supreme Court to stay the default bail granted by the Bombay High Court, which was rejected by the court on 7 December. In the Supreme Court, a bench of Justice UU Lalit, Justice Ravindra Bhat and Justice Bela Trivedi said that there is no reason to interfere with the Bombay High Court order.
The Bombay High Court, while accepting his bail plea, had dismissed similar petitions filed by 8 other accused in the case.
