Bengaluru Weather: From Driest April to Rainy Relief - IMD Yellow Alert Signals Change
Bengaluru Weather: Over the past few days, Bengaluru has experienced intermittent rainfall.
As a result of rain, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Bengaluru for Wednesday, indicating heavy rain and strong winds.
A number of parts of the city experienced waterlogging following the torrential downpour. Dozens of trees were felled by powerful winds, their branches littering streets.
To ease traffic woes in the city, the Bengaluru Traffic Police also issued guidelines for commuters concerning the waterlogging issues.
Bengaluru's weather forecast predicts rain and cloudy days for the next few days.
On May 8, it'll be mostly cloudy with some rain or thundershowers, and temperatures will range from 21 to 35 degrees.
From May 10 to May 13, expect cloudy skies and light rain. Temperatures will range from 22 to 36 degrees Celsius.
Rainfall brought relief to Bengaluru residents as the city, for the first time in the last 41 years, experienced its driest April in decades.
Bengaluru did not receive any rainfall in April, the first time since 1983, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
In the past four decades, Bengaluru hasn't seen much rainfall. It last saw 106.6 mm in November 2023, and there hasn't been much since.
In April, Bengaluru experienced its second-hottest day in at least 50 years with 38.5 degrees Celsius. The hottest day was 39.2 degrees Celsius in April 2016.
