Bengaluru Techie Suicide: SC Denies Grandson’s Custody to Deceased’s Mother, Calls Her ‘Stranger to Child’
Mother of the deceased techie, sought custody of her grandson and to file charges against her daughter-in-law for allegedly concealing the child's whereabouts.

Bengaluru Techie Suicide: There was no reason why the Supreme Court should have ordered the custody of the Bengaluru techie's grandson, who died by suicide in December to his mother-a "stranger to the child."
In this lengthy suicide note, this 34-year-old software engineer hailing from UP, accused wife and her family of harassment and extortion.

The mother of the deceased had sought the custody of the grandchild, who is now around four years old, because, according to her, her daughter-in-law was hiding the location of the child, as reported by PTI.
But Justices Bela M Trivedi and N Kotiswar Singh said that the issue of custody could be taken up before the trial court.
The apex court was hearing the petition of habeas corpus on behalf of the mother of the dead techie.
The lawyer for the estranged wife of the deceased informed the court that the child was studying in a boarding school in Haryana.

On the contrary, advocate Kumar Dushyant Singh who is going to argue for the mother of the deceased argued that any child below 6 years should not be allowed to go in a boarding school. Furthermore, he had produced pictures of the contact of the challenged with the child when he was just 2 years old.
The apex court then asked the concerned parties that the child be produced in the court during the next hearing scheduled for January 20. It also opined that the case could not be decided based on media trials.
Based on the notes, an FIR under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 108 (abetment of suicide) and 3 (5) (common intention) against the wife's family was lodged by the police. After this finding, the civil court of Bengaluru released, on bail on January 4, 2023, her brother and mother, both maternal members of this deceased wife.
