In an exemplary manner, the alert beat staff of Gokalpuri Police Station has arrested a desperate robber red-handed, after chasing him on foot and recovered cash and cheque book that he had robbed from a retired teacher.

On March 2, at around 10:40 PM while patrolling in the area, beat staff constables Dayanand and Vinay heard an old person shouting, Chor-Chor.
“Police team immediately rushed to him who pointed towards a person, running after robbing him. Both the constables chased the robber on foot and succeeded in apprehending him after a brief scuffle at about 150 meters from the spot,” Sanjay Kumar Sain, DCP, North East District, Delhi, said.
He added, “During the search, robbed cash Rs. 10,000 and the Cheque book in the name of the complainant were recovered from his possession. In his statement, the aggrieved person informed that his name is Haji Sharif Ahmed and he is a retired teacher.”
While coming from Loni to Indira Vihar through Budh Bazaar Road near Naala Road, Johripur, one person stopped and robbed him of cash Rs. 10000 and Cheque book of Punjab National Bank from his pocket and fled away on foot.
Accordingly, on his complaint, a case was registered and the investigation was taken up. During the course of the investigation, his identity was established as Adil.
He confessed to his crime and disclosed his involvement in other criminal cases. On sustained interrogation, his previous involvements in 4 cases of theft/snatching/robbery and arms act also surfaced. Further investigation into the case is in progress.
“These brave efforts of the beat staff not only ensured the arrest of robber but also received applaud from the local public,” DCP Sain said.
