BBC Documentary: Controversy in Ambedkar University over the screening of BBC documentary

Students are protesting against the power cut at Ambedkar University in Delhi to prevent them from screening a BBC documentary. College students watching documentary downloaded in laptop. The Student Federation of India (SFI) unit of Hindu College had screened the BBC documentary last evening. After the college administration denied permission to screen the documentary in the college campus, around 50 students held the screening on the terrace of a flat located outside the campus.

Rusham, secretary of SFI's Hindu college unit, said, "The documentaries we have been watching in our campuses for the past few days are an undemocratic and autocratic pursuit of the Modi government." SFI student activists of Jamia Millia Islamia were detained by police and kept in illegal detention for almost a day when they tried to screen BBC documentary 'India: The Modi Question'.

He also said, “Electricity was cut in JNU and ABVP goons attacked the students who were demonstrating the documentary. Similar attacks also took place at Pondicherry University. This is in the context of intense state terror. The Hindu College unit of SFI has successfully screened the documentary on the occasion of 73rd Republic Day of India involving a large number of students. Hindu College Unit of SFI extends solidarity to all the students of the country who are screening this BBC documentary against fascism. On Friday, student organizations of the Left and the Bhim Army are planning to screen the documentary outside DU's Faculty of Arts and also at the Ambedkar University Kashmiri Gate campus.
