Basavaraj S Bommai Will Be The New Chief Minister of Karnataka
Again a leader from the politically influential Lingayat community will rule the State

New Delhi : Once again a man from the politically influential Lingayat community will rule the State of Karnataka. Speculations ended and now it is confirmed that Basavaraj S Bommai will be the new Chief Minister of Karnataka.
He was the Home Minister and Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Legislation Minister in the B S Yediyurappa Government. On Tuesday He was chosen by the The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) legislature party . In the meeting Bommai's name was proposed by BS Yediyurappa, who resigned on Monday from the post of Chief Minister, and seconded by Karjol Ashok Eshwarappa and all BJP MLAs. The new chief minister is also from the politically influential Lingayat community.
It is an interesting fact of Karnataka Politics that of the 22 chief ministers in Karnataka so far, only three were able to serve their full term. On nine occasions, chief ministers could not even complete a year in office. The outgoing Chief Minister, BS Yediyurappa, held the post for 1,901 days spread across four different tenures.
