Ban on single use plastic, feedback is being received not only from the country but also from abroad
Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai says that 19 items of single use plastic have been banned from today across the country.
Keeping in mind the environmental safety, a complete ban on single use plastic has been announced across the country. Feedback is being received not only from the country but also from abroad regarding this. Martin Amdal Bothim, Deputy Head of Mission of Norway in India and Ministerial Adviser, said that we have decided that from today onwards single-use plastic will not be used in the Embassy premises here. It also includes some items that are not in India's list of single use plastics such as plastic bottles. I congratulate India, PM Modi for banning single use plastic items. This will reduce the amount of plastic that is thrown into the ocean.
Sikkim is the first state to ban the use of single-use plastic in 1998. The government has set a standard for the thickness of plastic bags and made it mandatory for the bags to be provided by the retailers. Cleanliness campaigns have been started in public places, national estates, forests and sea coasts to prevent plastic pollution. About 100 monuments have been included across the country.
The effort is that such plastic products which are not recyclable, which cause great harm to our environment, so how to stop it, has been banned only but for the promotion of what other items can be used in place of those products, 'Plastic Vikalp Mela' has been started by the Delhi government from today.
