Bakrid 2024: Some Important Guidelines for Eid-ul-Adha Sacrifices

Bakrid 2024: As we move near Eid ul-Adha also known as Bakrid which falls on June 17, Monday and holds a huge significance to Muslims.
There is no fixed date for the Eid ul-Adha celebration, it all depends on the moon sighting.
However, for this special day, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, one of the leading Muslim organizations prescribes Muslims to follow the guidelines proposed by the government when making sacrifices for Eid al-Azha.
Jamiat president, Maulana Arshad Madani said in a tweet, “It is mandatory for Muslims, therefore the person on whom the sacrifice is mandatory has to fulfill this duty under all circumstances.”
He further said, “In view of the current circumstances, Muslims themselves must act with caution. Do not share pictures of sacrificial animals etc. for publicity, especially on social media.

As per Arshad Madani, the guidelines for Bakrid are as follows:
- The prohibited animals should be used for Bakrid.
- There is no other way to show love than through sacrifice in Islam. It is a religious task that every Muslim must fulfill.
- Do not put any pictures on social media pictures of animals that are being killed.
- If any unpleasant activities take place that prevent the Qurbani of an animal then smart and influential people should take the matter into consideration and sort it out.
- If there is no way to meet this religious duty, then a Qurbani should be performed in a nearby location where it had been performed on a regular basis. At least a goat should be sacrificed there, and the event should be registered at the administration office to avoid any future problems.
- After the Qurbani is over, Muslims should take care of keeping things clean.
- Waste items from animals should not be thrown in the streets, roads, or drains. It should be covered so that the smell doesn't spread and thrown in a proper place.
- If any kind of sectarian threats we should directly file a complaint with the local police station.
However, the sacrifice of animals is done on this day to honor and to remind ourselves how Prophet Abraham offered his son Ismael as a sacrifice to God.
