Baba Siddique Shot Dead: Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde Confirms Arrest of Two Assailants

Baba Siddique shot dead Maharashtra: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) senior leader, Baba Siddique was shot dead outside of his son Zeeshan Siddique's office in Bandra East on Saturday.

Out of three only two Baba Siddique assailants arrested were confirmed by the police.

As per the official report, Baba Siddique was shot several times before he was taken to Lilavati Hospital where he died due to serious injuries from the bullet.

On Baba Siddique murder Eknath Shinde told Hindustan Times, “Mumbai police chief told me two persons have been arrested. One is from UP, other from Haryana. Third assailant is absconding but police are trying to nab him.”

India Today reported that Siddique was shot when he was bursting fireworks between 9:15 pm and 9:20 pm outside of his son's office in Bandra. He was shot thrice in his stomach and chest.

Reports further stated that the three attackers' faces were covered with handkerchiefs came out of a car and shot Siddique. After one bullet hit his chest, he collapsed on the spot.

Maharashtra CM confirms arrests Baba Siddique attackers and investigation is still underway for further leads.

In a tweet, NCP president Ajit Pawar expressed condolences in Marathi saying, “The incident of firing on NCP leader, former Minister of State, my colleague Baba Siddiqui who has been in the Legislature for a long time is very unfortunate, condemnable and painful. I was shocked to know that he died in this incident. I have lost my good colleague, friend. I strongly condemn this cowardly attack. I offer my heartfelt tributes to Baba Siddiqui.”

He also said, “The incident will be thoroughly investigated and strict action will be taken against the attackers. The mastermind behind the attack will also be traced. With the demise of Baba Siddiqui, we have lost a good leader who fought for the minority brothers and strived for pan-religious harmony.”

NCP president further added, “His death is a big loss for NCP. I share in the grief of Zeeshan Siddiqui, Siddiqui family and their workers.”
