In the case of provocative speech registered against senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, the court on Thursday convicted him and sentenced him to three years' imprisonment. Along with this, Azam Khan's legislature can also go, because the sentence given to him is more than 2 years. Azam Khan had reached the court with his son Abdullah Azam. Azam Khan was accused of saying provocative things against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the then DM of Rampur. Special MP / MLA Court convicted him in this case and sentenced him.
This case of hate speech is related to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Azam Khan allegedly made objectionable and provocative remarks during an election speech in Rampur's Milak Vidhan Sabha. A complaint was lodged by BJP leader Akash Saxena in this regard. In this case, the MP-MLA court of Rampur, while giving its verdict on October 27, has convicted Azam Khan.

Earlier, charges were framed against Samajwadi Party MLA and former minister Mohammad Azam Khan in a special MP/MLA court for alleged misuse of his official letterhead and seal. The court has fixed November 4 for recording the prosecution evidence against Azam Khan. Earlier, Special Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate A. Of. Srivastava read out the allegations to Azam Khan.
