Azam Khan gets a setback from the court in the hate speech case, the application for a stay on the sentence rejected

In the hate speech case, SP leader Azam Khan has got a setback from the Additional District and Sessions Court, MP MLA Sessions Court. The stay application filed on his behalf was rejected by the court. First of all, Rampur court found Azam guilty in the hate speech case and sentenced him to three years' imprisonment. Along with this his membership of the assembly was also cancelled. Actually, Azam Khan's side went to court against the decision of 3 years imprisonment of MP MLA Court Magistrate Trial Court on hate speech case. But Azam Khan has got a setback from court to court.

The Rampur court's decision was challenged in the sessions court on behalf of the SP. It was expected that Azam would get relief from there but for now this court has also given a big 'political' blow to the SP leader. His relief application has been rejected. That is, his sentence is going to remain intact.

Earlier, Azam had got the relief from the Supreme Court that the process for holding the by-election in Rampur had been put on hold for some time. In fact, on the instructions of the Supreme Court, the Election Commission put a stay on the by-elections to the Rampur assembly seat. The Commission has stayed the issuance of notification of the by-election till further orders. This notification was to be issued on November 10.

Former SP MLA from Rampur, Mohammad Azam Khan, was declared vacant by the Assembly Secretariat after he was sentenced to three years by the MP-MLA court for making provocative speeches. After this, the Election Commission announced the by-election on this seat. By issuing a notification for the by-election on November 10, nominations were proposed to be filed by November 17. Polling was to be held on December 5 and counting on December 8. But the Supreme Court has ordered a stay on the issuance of the notification of the by-election.
