Ayodhya Deepotsav 2024: UP government to attempt Guinness World Record by lighting 28 lakh diyas at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple on Deepotsav tomorrow. Along with this, 1,100 people will perform the largest aarti on Saryu Ghat during the festival. “This is the first ‘Deepotsav’ after the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and we have made every effort to make this programme grand and divine. Many new records will be created this year. Today Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Culture Minister will be here,” said UP minister Jaiveer Singh.

He added, “CM Yogi Adityanath will attend the event... Artists are coming from many countries. The special thing this year will be that we have managed to light 28 lakh diyas by breaking all our previous records. Apart from this, we will also perform Aarti with 1,100 diyas at the Sarayug Ghat with 1,100 Vedacharyas. That too will create a new record in the Guinness Book of World Records.”

Earlier CM Yogi Adityanath had invited everyone to join the programme and witness the diyas.

Here are the top points

  • Deepotsav 2024 is a 5 day festival which is celebrated as Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya and attracts millions of devotees and tourists to showcase the cultural and spiritual importance of Ayodhya.
  • PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday said this Diwali will be special as thousands of lamps will light up the temple built on the birthplace of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya after 500 years of wait.
  • 30,000 volunteers have been mobilized to light 28 lakh diyas across 55 ghats, New Ghat, Old Ghat and Bhajan Sandhya being the main locations. CM Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and other top officials will be present to give importance to the programme.
  • A team from Guinness World Records is monitoring the Deepotsav and will attempt two records: 1,100 people aarti on Saryu Ghat and 28 lakh diyas. This is the first Deepotsav after the construction of Ram Mandir. On Tuesday, a 30 member team led by Guinness World Records consultant Nischal Barot started counting the diyas across the 55 ghats of Saryu using drones.
  • A grand Shobha Yatra with 18 tableaus and artists from 6 countries and 16 Indian states will be part of the programme.
  • The ‘Ek Diya Ram ke Naam’ initiative will have virtual diya lighting through Divya Ayodhya app and Ayodhya’s growth in tourism and business has added to the festive mood.
  • To ensure safety 10,000 security personnel including undercover officers have been deployed and 17 routes leading to Ram Ki Paidi have been restricted for pass holders only. LED screens have been installed for live viewing and arrangements have been made for 5,000-6,000 people. Additional viewing points across the city have been set up to ensure everyone can see the programme.
  • Low soot diyas are being used to spread awareness and Animal Husbandry Department has committed to light 1,50,000 Gau Deep.
  • Security is tight, ATS, STF and CRPF commandos are deployed. Wax diyas are being used outside the main temple building to avoid pollution and decoration is being done carefully to avoid any damage to the temple structure.
  • Mishra added that, for cleanliness, “we are using wax lamps outside the main building to reduce dirt and pollution.”
