Avalanche hits Sonamarg in Jammu and Kashmir, second time in two days

Avalanche has happened once again in Sonamarg of Jammu and Kashmir. This is the second such incident in the last two days. A video regarding the incident of avalanche on Saturday is also going viral. In this video, some laborers can be heard shouting. These laborers work for a construction company. It is seen in the video that a huge avalanche is coming over the barracks of these labourers. Due to this avalanche, the cloud of snow is seen spreading on both sides of the barracks of these laborers. Some people can also be heard instructing the laborers to stay in their rooms.

Two laborers were killed in Sonamarg of Ganderbal district in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday after being hit by an avalanche. District administration officials had said during that time that the avalanche affected Sarbal area near Neelgrath where Hyderabad-based 'Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited' (MEIL) company is working on the Zojila tunnel. Officials had told that the deceased have been identified as Sandeep Singh and Bal Krishna, who were residents of Kishtwar.

Due to the heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir in the last few days, the administration has issued an avalanche warning for 12 districts including Bandipora. Officials said that an avalanche occurred in Jurniyal village of Gurez this afternoon, but there was no damage due to it. The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) on Saturday issued a "high danger" avalanche warning for north Kashmir's Kupwara district, while for Bandipora, Baramulla, Doda, Ganderbal, Kishtwar, Poonch, Ramban and Reasi districts. An avalanche warning of "moderate danger" was issued.
