Assure IP Protection Agency and UP Police Mau Raids a Factory Involved in Counterfeit Toilet Cleaner Harpic, Accused Arrested

Reckitt Benckiser Pvt Ltd, a leading global brand prominently known for its toilet cleaner Harpic and Marico’s Nihar Coconut Oil in an attempt to ensure its customers are delivered only impeccable quality products, with the assistance of Assure IP Protection Agency busted a counterfeit manufacturing spot.

The Agency, which is the authorized representative of the firm, received information that inside a home in Mau district, counterfeit Harpic Cleaners and Marico’s Coconut Oil were being manufactured. Such activities not only bring a bad name to a globally reputed firm but also cheat the customers by offering substandard products not worthy of the money. Besides, it also causes huge losses to the government in terms of theft and not paying the Goods and Services Tax.

After a detailed survey within a short span of time, the spot was identified, the Police were informed and an FIR was lodged as per the Copyright Act of 1957. The accused has been identified as Raju Mishra.

On the 25th of August, on the basis of the complaint, when the Assure IP Agency reached the suspected location along with the Police’s aid, and found that false goods, under the name of the company, were being produced in humongous quantities. On further interrogation, it was found that the owner was Raju Mishra, who said he was merely a tenant but could not produce any papers for justification.

The following goods were found from the residence, Harpic 650 ml bottles (782 Pieces), Harpic 200 ml (1214 Pieces), Harpic Stickers (4214 Pieces), and Nihar Natural Coconut Oil (2612 Pieces), worth lakhs.

As per the complainant, this is a blatant breach of the Copyright Act of 1957, and since the information reveals the commission of an offense, an investigation has been taken up. The FIR has been lodged for Breaching of Copyright Acts, Accused Involved in Making of Counterfeit Products like Harpic Cleaners and Coconut Oils. The Police have seized the location and an investigation has been taken up.

“We have kept a very stringent watch on the market so that not a single counterfeit product can make an entry towards the general public. Owing to the Assure IP, the surveillance is stringent across the country”, the spokesperson of the Firm said.
