Army will be able to buy 'Make in India' weapons in case of emergency, Defense Ministry informed

The government has allowed the army to procure critical weapon systems for its needs through emergency procurement. Under this, procurement can be done only through Make in India route. Top government sources said the approval was given at a meeting of the Defense Ministry held on Monday morning. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh presided over the meeting. According to news agency ANI, the army will now use these powers to procure critical weapon systems under the fast-track route.

The supply will be made within three months to one year. For this, the armed forces will have to spend money from their budgetary allocation and they will not need to seek the approval of the Ministry of Defense for these deals. In the past also the army has been given emergency powers and through these they have strengthened their preparedness.

India has deployed the first S-400 to protect its borders. After this, India is going to use the technology of Russian Zirkan hypersonic missile. Let us inform that 'Heron' unmanned aerial vehicle has been provided to the Indian Air Force and Army, which have been deployed for surveillance to keep an eye on Chinese activities in Ladakh and Northeast. The army has also got missiles, which can hit ground targets from long range. The induction of the HAMMER missiles has also given a boost to the Rafale fighter jets.

Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh informed that Indian Army has made Ballistic Helmet, Ballistic Goggles, Bulletproof Jacket, Elbow Pack, Knee Pack for Infantry Soldier. He told that this helmet and bulletproof jacket protects against bullets of deadly weapons like 9mm and AK-47.
