AR Rahman Hospitalized for Dehydration: Son Confirms He’s Doing Well, Team Denies Chest Pain Reports
Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman was hospitalized in Chennai, where he is undergoing several tests, such as ECG, and may require an angiogram.

AR Rahman Hospitalized for Dehydration: Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman was dehydrated and taken for some tests in a Chennai hospital on Sunday. His son AR Ameen gave an update stating that Rahman has now been discharged, according to the hospital press release.

Ameen wrote in an IG post, “To all our dear fans, family, and well-wishers, I sincerely thank you for your love, prayers, and support. My father felt a bit weak due to dehydration hence we went ahead and did some routine tests, but I’m happy to share that he is doing well now. Your kind words and blessings mean a lot to us. We truly appreciate your concern and continued support. Much love and gratitude to you all!”

Earlier, an ANI report had stated that all tests conducted by the doctors had shown Rahman to be normal and the discharge was likely that same day. Also, his team has denied "fake" reports that said he had been admitted to the hospital after complaints of chest pain.
"It's fake news (on heart issues) spreading now. Rahman went to hospital because he got dehydrated and has neck pain due to travel," said Rahman's team.
Rahman, who recently performed at Ed Sheeran's concert in Chennai, attended the music launch of his own film, Chaava, a week later.
Ex-wife Saira Banu was also ill recently
At the same time, Rahman's estranged wife, Saira Banu, was hospitalized for a medical emergency involving surgery. Bano's lawyer, Vandana Shah, released an official statement.
"On behalf of our client, Mrs. Saira Rahman, Vandana Shah and Associates issue the following statement regarding her current health condition. A few days ago, Mrs. Saira Rahman was hospitalized due to a medical emergency and underwent surgery. During this challenging time, her sole focus is on a speedy recovery," the statement shared on Instagram read.

"She deeply appreciates the concern and support from those around her and requests prayers for her well-being from her numerous well-wishers and supporters. Mrs. Saira Rahman would also like to express her heartfelt gratitude to her friends from Los Angeles, Resul Pookutty and his wife Shadia, as well as Vandana Shah and Mr. Rahman, for their unwavering support during this difficult time. She is truly grateful for their kindness and encouragement. God bless. Mrs. Saira Rahman also seeks privacy during this period and expresses gratitude for the understanding from her supporters and well-wishers," it further read.
Saira Banu and AR Rahman parted ways on November 19, 2024, after nearly 29 years of their marriage. In a statement put out by Saira's lawyer Vandana Shah, the couple mentioned that their decision comes after "significant emotional strain" on their relationship.
