APPSC Paper Leak: Government's action after huge ruckus by protesters in Itanagar, shutdown of internet service

Examiners staged a day-long protest on Friday in connection with the alleged question paper leak of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission. Due to this bandh life in Itanagar got disturbed. Thousands of examinees and parents came out on the road. As a precautionary measure, the government has temporarily suspended internet services in Itanagar region from 6 pm on Friday till 5 pm on Sunday.
Thousands of examinees and parents took to the streets in Arunachal Pradesh since Friday morning. They were demanding cancellation of the swearing-in of the new APPSC chairman, scheduled for Friday evening. During this, many protesters and policemen were injured during the clash. As the matter escalated, the police lathi-charged and fired tear gas shells.
Business establishments, markets, banks, educational institutions and offices remained closed in Itanagar as a precautionary measure. Chief Minister Pema Khandu has invited the Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee-APPSC at 11 am on Saturday to discuss the demands. Also, the swearing-in ceremony of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) chairman has been postponed.
