Amid the India’s Got Latent controversy, Apoorva took a break from social media. She didn’t promote her latest released Netflix movie, Nadaaniyan. The actress played a supporting role in the film. Apoorva didn’t attend the premiere of Nadaaniyan, which starred Khushi Kapoor and Ibrahim Ali Khan in the lead roles.
In February, India's Got Latent episode featured Apoorva Mukhija, Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani in the guest panel along with Samay Raina.

It got widespread outrage after some comments made during the episode didn’t go well with people. Apoorva and Ranveer also recorded their statements before the NCW Chairperson and legal teams. When she exited the police station in Khar, she hid her face with a mask and avoided questions from the media.
Sufi praised Apoorva's fashion and said that she is one of the very few girls who ‘knows what looks good on her’. He added that she was ‘severely underused’ in Nadaaniyan given that she could speak Hindi well.
Sufi criticised the styling of the actor in the film, commenting that when compared with her real-life fashion choices, the difference is ‘jarring.’ This commentary caught the attention of Apoorva, who commented, “Got hated so hard that now even Sufi Motiwala doesn’t say hateful things about me.”
