Mahindra wrote, “I will ‘...just go to every game as the best version of myself...’ A philosophy that is inspiring to all of us, not just to a sportsperson. Thank you @DGukesh. An entire nation is cheering as you take on the World Champion.”
In the video, Gukesh talked about his upcoming challenge. He said, "For me, it's pretty clear who I'm going to face. I'm going to face Ding Liren who is one of the best players in the world for more than a decade," he said.
He added, “And my job is also pretty clear, just go to every game as the best version of myself...If I do that, if I keep playing good chess, stay in the right spirits, I think even with his recent form dip or even at his best, I don’t think it really matters that much. If I’m doing the right things, I’m confident I have all the chances in the world.”
Mahindra's post reverberated through social media users, who lauded Gukesh's philosophy.
A user wrote, “That should always be the fighting spirit. We should always try to be a better version of ourselves. Rest will follow through.” Another said, “It's a powerful philosophy to approach every challenge as the best version of oneself. This mindset is inspiring not just for athletes, but for everyone striving to reach their potential. Best of luck to @DGukesh as he takes on the World Champion.”
“That's so important! Wherever for whatever- That's the true spirit,” another user echoed.
Gukesh is set to meet Ding Liren in 14 rounds for the World Chess Championship - the second Indian after Viswanathan Anand to have a shot at this title.
