Wrestler Ravi Dahiya Storm Into Final, Assures Silver Medal But Deepak Loses In The Semi Final
India was assured of the fourth medal, second Silver, in Tokyo Olympic Games.
New Delhi: India’s fourth medal, at least a Silver, in the Tokyo Olympics has been confirmed as Indian Wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya entered into the Final of men’s 57 kg FreeStyle Wrestling event. Ravi is the second Indian Wrestler after Sushil Kumar to reach the Final of the Olympic Games. Sushil Kumar won Silver Medal in the 2012 London Olympics. Another Indian Wrestler Deepak Punia lost to USA’s David Taylor in the Semi Final of the 86 Kg Freestyle event.
In the Semi Final Ravi Dahiya came from behind against Kazakhstan’s Nurislam Sanayev, just a few seconds before the end of the second period and won on the basis of by fall.
Earlier Ravi Dahiya booked his spot in the quarterfinals with an easy 13-2 win over Colombia’s Tigreros Urbano. Then he beat Georgi Valentinov of Bulgaria by 14-4 and confirmed a place in the Semi Final.
