WHO says Delta is a dominant variant, replacing other variants

The delta variant of Covid-19 is the dominant variant circulating the world, competing with alpha, beta, gamma variants, Maria Van Kerkhove, says the World Health Organization and their technical lead on Covid-19 said reporters on Wednesday. The delta variant has become more fit and transmissible and is now actively replacing all other variants of Covid in circulation said Van Kerkhove.

The health body official said on Wednesday, that Less than 1 percent each of alpha, beta, and gamma are circulating presently. It is really predominantly delta around the world. During a social media interaction, Kerkhove said, Delta has become more fit, it is more transmissible and it is out-competing, it is restoring the other virus too.
