West Bengal: Bomb blast before TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee's rally, 3 dead, many injured
Nandigram BJP MLA Shubhendu Adhikari had moved the High Court requesting that the rally not be allowed to be held at the ground. However, the High Court had dismissed his appeal while giving the green signal to go ahead with the TMC leader's program with certain guidelines.
A case of bomb blast has come to light from East Midnapore district of West Bengal. According to media reports, the blast took place at a time when Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was about to visit here. At least two people were killed and some others injured in a crude bomb blast on Saturday. The blast took place in East Midnapore's Arjun Nagar area. According to sources, the condition of one of the injured is critical.
Significantly, the nephew of TMC leader and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has a mega rally at College Ground in Contai, East Midnapore today. He will also address a public meeting here. It is also the home constituency of Shubhendu Adhikari, Leader of the Opposition in Bengal. Some TMC party workers were also injured in the blast. At present, the police have not confirmed this.
