Vinayaka Chaturthi is celebrated twice in the month of Ashadha, first during the Krishna Paksha and then during the Shukla Paksha.
The Sankashti Chaturthi is celebrated during the Krishna Paksha after the full moon.
However, this time Vinayaka Chaturthi is celebrated after the full moon during the Shukla Paksha (waxing moon) in the Adi month of the Hindu calendar.

How to Perform Puja on Ganesh Chaturthi?
Devotees should follow the below-mentioned steps to perform pujas on Vinayaka Chaturthi:
- Devotees should wake up early on this special day.
- Then, take a hold bath to clean all the negativity before sitting for Puja.
- After that place the idol of Lord Ganesha on the Altar and prepare all the puja materials.
- Light a diya in front of the idol of Lord Ganesha along with flowers, and desi ghee.
- Also, offer sweets such as Boondi laddus and then offer the Durva grass to Lord Ganesha.
- Then chant Ganesha hymns and Ganesha Mantra to Lord Ganpati and perform aarti.
- Devotees then should visit the temple, perform prayers, and seek blessings from Lord Ganesha for good fortune and strength.
- Devotees should break their fasting in the evening by eating sattvik food.
