Veteran leader Motilal Vora passes away, Congress says it has lost a guiding light
Veteran Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Motilal Vora has passed away at the age of 93.
Veteran Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Motilal Vora has passed away at the age of 93.
A day before on December 20, Vora had turned 93. His son, Arun Vora, is an MLA from the Congress Party in Chhattisgarh.
The Indian National Congress expressed heartfelt condolences and said that the party has lost a guiding light.
The INC’s official Twitter handle tweeted, “We offer our heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of stalwart Congress leader, former Union Cabinet Minister & former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Motilal Vora.”
It added, “Congress has lost a guiding light. May his soul rest in peace.”
Congress leader and Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi too expressed his condolences and wrote, “Vora ji was a true congressman and a wonderful human being. We will miss him very much.”
“My love & condolences to his family and friends” he added.
Vora served as a treasurer of the Indian National Congress for several years. He also served as a Member of Rajya Sabha for the Indian National Congress till April this year. He remained the Governor of Uttar Pradesh in his political career too.
Two months ago in October, he had tested positive for Covid-19.
Though he didn’t have severe symptoms yet as a precautionary measure, he was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi for a few days till the time he fully recovered and tested negative.
Of late, he was admitted in Fortis as he complained breathlessness. He passed away in the afternoon on December 21.
