The parents of the children of these age groups can log in to the digital platform of vaccine registration CoWIN and can book a slot in the nearest health centres.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has started the immunization process for kids of the age group between 15 to 18 years.
The parents of the children of these age groups can log in to the digital platform of vaccine registration CoWIN and can book a slot in the nearest health centres.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya requested the parents to register and get their wards vaccinated. He said that if the children are safe then the future of the country is safe too. I request the family members to register the eligible children for vaccination,” Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said.
While the government is promoting these vaccines and asking parents to come forward and vaccinate their kids, a section of experts is quite apprehensive about the process.
They believe that it is not scientific to vaccinate the kids as they are the safest category in the pandemic. They say that seroprevalence survey has shown that in many places in India more than 70 to 80 per cent of kids have already recovered from Covid-19 and they don’t need any vaccine at all.
Some scientists even believe that vaccines long term effect is not known and it will cause any long-term bad effect, then it will prove to be disastrous for many kids.
Dr Sanjay Rai, Professor of the Department of Community Medicine, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi is of the view that kids don’t need vaccines as they have a very strong immune system and the virus cannot cause any harm to them.
