Uttarakhand Rain Alert Real-time updates: 16 fatalities in rain-related accidents; Nainital cut off from the rest of the state

The death toll in rain-related crashes in Uttarakhand rose to 16 on Tuesday. All exit and entry points are blocked as the three roads leading to the hill station have been blocked due to a series of landslides. All of Uttarakhand came to a halt due to heavy rain for the third day in a row on Tuesday. As water rushed into homes and basements in different parts of the state, significant waterlogging in Dehradun was reported. Amid continued heavy rains in Uttrakhand, a bridge over the Gaula River in Haldwani was partially damaged. In addition to this, a bridge under construction over a Chalthi River in Champawat was also washed away. The Chardham Devasthanam Board temporarily shut down the Char Dham Yatra in anticipation of the heavy rain warning issued by the Uttarakhand Meteorological Department in October 1719.
