Uttar Pradesh Horror: Inspired from Bollywood movie Drishyam, a man in Kanpur killed a 32 year old woman with whom he was in a relationship and buried her body in posh area of the city after she objected to his engagement with another woman.
Four months after a businessman’s wife went missing from her gym here, Kotwali police on Saturday took her gym trainer into custody for allegedly abducting and killing her. The accused Vimal Soni confessed to the crime during interrogation.

Police said that the businessman’s wife was abducted from Greenpark in Civil Lines in June. The woman was then murdered and her body was buried within the premises of Officer’s Club located on VIP Road DM Compound, which has bungalows allotted to government officials.
Police recovered the body of Ekta Gupta from a club near DM’s residence after her gym trainer Vishal Soni gave the location.
Soni was earlier arrested by police in the case after Ekta’s husband Rahul Gupta filed a complaint against him. According to police, Soni and Ekta were in a relationship and she objected to his engagement with another woman. On June 24, Ekta went to the gym and the duo argued over the issue and left. A CCTV footage showed the duo leaving the gym.
Soni and Ekta argued and he punched her and she fell unconscious. He then murdered her and buried the body in the club near DM’s residence, police sources said.

According to police source, Soni got the idea of burying the woman near DM’s residence after watching the Bollywood movie Drishyam.
Taking cue from Ajay Devgn’s character from the movie, Soni buried Ekta’s body in the posh area of the city thinking that police would not suspect a murder in such a locality, it said.
"A case has been registered against Soni under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Based on his indications, the body of the woman has been recovered, and identification has been made by her family. Further legal actions will follow based on the investigation," a senior official of Kanpur Police said while speaking to India Today TV's sister channel Aajtak.
But Ekta’s husband Rahul Gupta has denied that his wife was in a relationship with the gym trainer.
"There was no romantic relationship, and it was a case of kidnapping. We filed a report about the kidnapping and provided information through the media twice in four months," Gupta said on the issue.
After the incident, Kanpur Police also launched a drive to verify gym trainers in the city.
"The accused killed the victim and buried her here after they got into a furious quarrel over something that particularly upset the victim. Her body was buried here in a trench that he had dug out. He attempted to mislead the case, but after we subjected him to rigorous questioning, he came clean," he added.
Soni told the police that both of them were in a relationship and the woman was unhappy after his marriage was finalised which led to the murder. "On the day of the, she had come to the gym. Then we went inside a car to talk about the issue," Soni told the police.
Soon an argument started and Soni lost his cool and punched her in the neck. She couldn’t bear the pain and fainted and then Soni allegedly murdered her.
