UN General Assembly session: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will lead India's delegation in the 77th session of UNGA
Significantly, Jaishankar will be visiting the US from September 18 to 28, during which he will visit Washington after attending the UN session in New York and meeting UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and the President of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, Saba Korosi.
The high-level session of the United Nations General Assembly is going to start from this week in which counter-terrorism, programs to stop climate change and equitable distribution of Covid-19 vaccine are important areas on which India's main focus will be. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will arrive in New York on Sunday to attend the 77th annual session of the United Nations General Assembly, which begins on September 20 with an open debate. Jaishankar will address world leaders from the forum of the United Nations General Assembly on September 24 after more than 50 bilateral and multilateral official meetings in the week ahead of the session. The General Debate of the General Assembly will begin on 20 September in which world leaders will make their national statements.
The US speech is traditionally second only to Brazil in the debate, but President Joe Biden will address the session on September 21 as he attends the state funeral of Britain's late Queen Elizabeth II on September 19. This session is being held in the traditional manner after being interrupted for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
