The Ministry of External Affairs is trying to evacuate students and Indian nationals who are stuck in Ukraine and couldn’t leave the country before the war broke out with Russia.
Now, the second special flight will arrive in Delhi at about 3 AM in the morning with students and Indian nationals. Air India’s flight number 942 will come from Bucharest, the state capital of Rumania, which is a bordering country of Ukraine.
Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will reach terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport to receive these passengers.
As Ukraine has closed its airspace due to military engagement with Russia, Indian nationals and people from other countries are moving to border areas so that they can cross the border and reach either Hungry or Romania.
Since civil aviation is on in these countries, the government is making efforts to evacuate these Indian nationals from there. The government has named the whole evacuation exercise Operation Ganga.
The first flight under Operation Ganga has already arrived in Mumbai from Bucharest in which 219 Indian nationals returned safely to their home country.
Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs & Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Govt. of India has welcomed all the nationals in Mumbai as he wrote on his Twitter, “Welcome back to the motherland! Glad to see the smiles on the faces of Indians safely evacuated from Ukraine at the Mumbai airport. Govt. led by PM @NarendraModi ji is working relentlessly to ensure safety of every Indian.”
