An Indian cargo ship collided with a Philippines cargo ship off the Okha coast in Kutch, Gujarat. The accident happened around 11 pm on Friday night. The crew members then sought help from the Indian Coast Guard. As soon as the information was received, the Indian Navy team reached the spot and rescued 43 crew members of both the ships.
The Indian crew in the Mavi My Atlantic Grace was 21, while the Philippine My Aviator had 22 crew members. The collision caused significant damage to the fuselage of the Philippine ship. However, it is not yet clear what caused the accident.
According to the information received from the Coast Guard, there is an oil leak from a ship, which efforts are being made to stop it. Navy technical team is present on the spot. Indian Pollution Control Vessel has also been sent to the spot. Apart from this, a team of technical experts is also being sent from Bhavnagar Alang Shipyard.
